An older couple in HCM City, in addition to doing charity, like to travel around the country by motorbike.
They are Mrs. Le Thi Bich Thuy (born in 1955) and Mr. Nguyen Thanh Long (born in 1951) in Go Vap district, HCM City. Their hobby is traveling by motorcycle with young travelers. Thuy said after their three children had their own families, Thuy and her husband began travelling around the country. They initially travelled by motorbike with their friends and then joined travel groups of young people.
The couple has conquered many places in Vietnam. However, their most memorable trip was the one to Bu Lach in Binh Phuoc Province. That time the couple joined two others to visit the Bu Lach grass-plot, a famous tourist site in Binh Phuoc. They got lost in the grass-plot when the night fell. They found the way out very late at night and they set up a camp to sleep. The tent was blown away by rain and strong winds. Everybody was wet and cold.
The most difficult trip was the one to Pang Tieng waterfall in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong. The couple had to pass many high hills and tracks through forests, which are challenges for even young people.
Long said after the trips, he completely changed his mind that older people should be at home for comfort.
The couple learned how to take good pictures to preserve their beautiful moments.
Nguyen Cao Nguyen, leader of the Saigon traveling group, said he admired Long and Thuy for their health and their cheerful spirit.
The couple has been pursuing charity activities for over 25 years. They are taking care of seven disabled people.
Every month, the couple gives rice and food to some disadvantaged people.
The couple has promised to take care of a paralysed girl, born in 1998, for life.
Long and Thuy also like bonsai trees.
They have many pots of orchids and cacti at home.
The couple lives with their daughter and grandchildren.
They also participate in many social groups.
They are now preparing for a trip to the North.
