The interesting journey in Ha Giang
From Ha Giang, we rented a motorbike to go to Dong Van town. The route of Ha Giang – Quan Ba – Yen Minh – Dong Van with about 140 km long has mainly the pass winding craggy cliffs. The landscape is so great and poetic but very dangerous in bad weather.
The local people is very friendly so you can stop at anywhere on the road to get acquainted and talk with old people and children. They will talk to you many interesting things about the life, the tourist attractions and the legend of the stone plateau which not all tourists know about.
We stoped in Pho Cao and were luckily invited to take part in a meal of the ethnics. Thang co and corn wine are the 2 first dishes we tried. The flavor was very different from the dish in the market or in eateries serving for the tourists.
Ha Giang is in the best time in the year with the fields of buckwheat flowers stretching over the valley and crepting over the cliffs. You can stop at any garden on the road to take photograph. In some places, you have to pay a small fee to go into the garden, about 10,000VND/ person.
Not only having buckwheat flowers, Ha Giang in this season also has the ripe yellow rice fields which are havested. Along the road, it is not difficult to find the peaceful scenery like that.
Coming to Ha Giang, you should visit Meo King’s Palace and Pao’s house. In addition to the featured architecture of the ethnics in here, these tourist destinations are also beautiful to take nice photos.
Reaching Dong Van old quarter, we stayed in a homestay and had meals with the hosts. Going deeply into the old quarter, you will see the daily life of the local people.
After one night in the old quarter, in the next morning, we continued to go to Lung Cu flag tower. It was about 22 km length.
The way to Lung Cu flag tower is not too difficult. Coming to Ha Giang, you may not visit Meo King’s Palace or Dong Van old quarter but must visit Lung Cu flag tower. From the top of the tower and looking down, you will see all the great and poetic beauty of the head land of the country.
Ma Pi Leng pass is one of the most attractive routes in the northwest region. At the top of the pass, there is a cliff looking over the Nho Que river which is the river seperating the boundary between Vietnam and China. Passing over Ma Pi Leng pass, we went toward Yen Minh – Quan Ba, ended the journey in Ha Giang town.
You can visit Ha Giang at any time of year because in each season, Ha Giang has a different beauty. If coming to Ha Giang at the beginning of the year, in the occasion of the spring and Tet holiday, you will have the opportunity to enjoy the flavor of the dishes from 23 ethnic groups in here.
